Updating windows xp service pack 1 to service pack 2

Service Pack 1 for Windows XP (or Windows XP SP1 as its reputation has it) is an essential software upgrade for Windows XP.It patches up many large security holes adds new capabilities improves XP's built-in software and integrates most of the major security improvements XP saw from its release on.

But you should check to see if it is: doing so is fairly easy. SP1 provides security upgrades that an Internet user literally cannot go without and dozens of features besides.

Combine it with Service Pack 2 as well of course and you're well on the way to having a solid XP machine!

My best advice is: Check all drivers for all hardware devices to ensure that they are the current best for Windows XP.

Most Win XP shutdown problems reported thus far have been that it reboots when shutdown is attempted.

In the table below, I've linked directly to the latest Microsoft Windows service packs and major updates for each operating system. Please note that for most of you, the easiest way to install the latest Windows service pack or update is to run Windows Update.[1] Beginning in Windows 8, Microsoft began releasing regular, major updates to Windows 8.
